This November BBTA tutors, Debbie Strang and Catherine Cornall, ran a two day workshop for nursing staff at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield titled “Applying the principles of the Bobath concept in Rehabilitation Nursing after stroke”. The workshop was very practical and key content included bed and chair positioning, moving between lying and sitting and the importance of increasing sensory stimulation to support recovery of movement. All sessions were focussed on making every patient contact count as we work together in multidisciplinary teams across the continuum of care from hyperacute to the community. There was great reflective group discussion which facilitated a collaborative approach to learning.
